About Me
I have lived here for 30 years. I am a husband, father of a three year old, and small business owner. As a part of the community, I will help you because these are our problems. I will show up for you like I have in my work as Executive Director of the Somali Family Life Center. I have designed afterschool programs that keep kids out of trouble. I will never stop helping you and fighting for you. I have protected immigrants with my network of lawyers, and as your next city council member I will protect everyone.
Most importantly we need to fight corruption and hate. My opponent started charities (part of feeding our future) that stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from hungry children during covid. My opponent has opposed gay marriage and said of Jewish people “Where is Hitler when you need him?”
I oppose genocide everywhere – From Palestine to Poland.
The incumbent moved to Ward 6 to run for office and spends most of his time in the suburbs!
It is time for honest leadership that lives here and listens!

Public Safety
All residents of Ward 6 deserve to feel safe. We need ALL the things that build true safety: Police protection that is accountable to the people and businesses in Ward 6.
Housing
Minnesota is in a housing crisis. Homelessness is one part of that crisis. Minneapolis must lead with a multi-part strategy Funding for Affordable Housing.
Transportation & Environment
With interstates 94 and 35W running through our ward 6, our residents are disproportionately exposed to air pollution from cars and trucks.
Ward 6 needs a new leader, a council member who doesn’t listen only at election time. We deserve a Council Member rooted in our community, someone who listens and is accessible
